The imo Privacy Policy has been updated in October 2022. The changes are made in order to better protect your rights derived from your Personal Data as required by relevant laws and regulations. Below are the comparison lists of major changes of Privacy Policy.
We are not collecting any new Personal Data or altering the way we use or share your Personal Data. We reorganize subsections “Information We Collect and How We Use it” and combine them into a table. The table is split into 3 columns which clarifies the purpose and retention period of using each item of information we collected. Meanwhile, it is also split into two parts including (i)Required Data which is mandatory to provide the fundamental features of our Service and (ii)Optional Data which will be collected if you choose to use the additional features or is provided to us upon your option/consent. We have added a new subsection in our Privacy Policy which is titled Data Destruction so that you may know how your Personal Data will be irrevocablly destructed when appropriate.
Subsection 9 goes as “Personal information, which has fulfilled the purpose for which it was collected or used, and has reached the period of time during which personal information was to be possessed, will be destroyed in an irreversible way. Personal information stored in electronic files will be automatically deleted in an irreversible way by using technical methods, and printed information will be destroyed by shredding or incinerating such information.”
We impose strict restriction on international data transfers. We have explained in our original version the purpose of transferring your information and all of the circumstances where we transfer your information in this subsection. For the purpose of the completeness of our privacy policy and render a stronger transparency to you, in the new version of our Privacy Policy, we disclose to you the recipient and the country when we transfer your Personal Data outside of your country and other relevant information as required by law. For the users in South Korea, we have change the threshold age of our targeted users from 13 to 14, which means that children under 14 years old are not allowed to create an account on imo and we are not intending to collect any personal information from those who are under 14 years old.
We have added in our subsection 15 “Contact us” with more information of our Privacy Protection Officer for your easier contact in case you have any questions or comments about our Privacy Policy.
