Tips about Account Security and Privacy

It is recommended you upgrade imo for better 

 

security, privacy and experience.

 

 

1. Privacy issues

 

 

1.1. Account number. 

 

The account number is hidden by default except 

 

the account owner. (Do NOT trust others in 

 

revealing your number)

 

 

1.2. Privacy setting.

 

You may modify privacy setting in your profile 

 

page - Security & Privacy, which can solve most 

 

problems.

 

 

1.3. Offline setting.

 

When you leave imo, you can close imo from 

 

your mobile background, which can solve

 

problems ( e.g. automatically open the app when

 

an imo call comes ).

 

 

1.4. Permission setting.

 

You can adjust imo permissions in mobile 

 

permission setting according to your needs. 

 

 

1.5. Account deletion.

 

If you lost your SIM card, it is 

 

recommended to delete the account on imo: 

 

- Nevigate to your profile page 

 

- Settings

 

- Account & Security

 

- Delete imo Account

 

 

*Account deletion will clear the account 

 

information which cannot be restored after 14 

 

days. 

 

 

Within 14 days, you may only resume your 

 

profile, contact list, big groups and block list.

 

 

 

2. Security issues

 

 

2.1. Tips for Security.

 

Do NOT log on unfamiliar devices, click on 

 

unfamiliar links, let out the verification code nor 

 

transfer your group ownership to strangers.

 

 

*Imo official/the bank will NEVER ask you for a 

 

verification code on imo.

 

  

2.2. About imo official.

 

Imo official mainly contact you through imo 

 

channels ( e.g. "imo team", "imo support team", 

 

"imo live team" ) about official event, account

 

/feature status, etc.

 

 

*As for imo official team, you can view their 

 

official/official assistant badge on their profile 

 

page.

 

 

2.3. Account unauthorized login.

 

You can delete the unwanted devices through 

 

[Me] page - Settings - Manage Devices.

 

 

The removed device can not enter your account 

 

without new verification code.

 

 

Kindly provide details as below:

 

 

1. Your hacked account number with country code

 

 

2. The hack method: Did you give out imo 

 

verification code?

 

 

3. The hack purpose: Did they ask for money?

 

 

It helps to protect the accounts and property of 

 

you and your contacts.

 

 

3. Imo community guidelines

 

 

Imo respect every user, religion and aim at 

 

creating a harmonious community.

 

 

Pornography, Bloody, Gambling, Drugs, 

 

Counterfeiting official account, Fraud, Spam, etc. 

 

is forbidden.

3.1. How to block/delete someone 

 

Please enter his profile page 

 

- Block/Delete.

 

 

*You could view the Blocked list in profile page 

 

- Security & Privacy.

 

 

3.2. How to report the misbehaviour

 

1. Please enter his profile page

 

 

2. [Report] and select the violation reason

 

 

3. Attach related description, screenshots

 

 

4. Click ' submit '

 

Proper actions including account closure will be 

 

taken accordingly.

 

 

Note:

 

Serious violation may result in permanent ban.

 

Temporary ban for multiple times may also result

 

in permanent ban.
