Friday prayer in the Prophets Mosque

Wed Dec 24 2025

In Islam, the Friday prayer, known as Jumu'ah, holds a special place, particularly in the Prophet's Mosque, where the convergence of time, place, and devotion amplifies its significance. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) described Friday as the most superior day, blessed with unique practices such as performing ghusl (ritual bath), wearing fine clothes, and arriving early at the mosque. Devotees are encouraged to recite Surat Al-Kahf, engage in abundant supplications, and send blessings upon the Prophet, especially during the hour when prayers are believed to be answered.

However, the desire to attend Jumu'ah at the Grand Mosque can lead to overcrowding, especially during Hajj. To maintain a serene atmosphere, worshippers are advised to avoid pushing and to arrive early, refraining from hastily departing after the service. The Prophet's Mosque opens its rooftop doors to accommodate the influx, allowing attendees to avoid the harsh sun. Additionally, the sermon is accessible in multiple languages, ensuring that the message transcends linguistic barriers, allowing the essence of Jumu'ah to resonate with a global audience.
