Zamzam

Zamzam water is a divine blessing bestowed upon Makkah and its visitors by Allah. It was granted to Isma'il and his mother Hagar when Abrahim left them in Makkah in obedience to Allah’s command. Abrahim prayed to Allah, asking for the well-being of his descendants and for the provision of fruits and water for them to be thankful. In response to his supplication, Allah caused sweet water to spring from under the feet of Isma'il, endowing it with unique characteristics and advantages incomparable to any other water on earth. This was a gesture of honor to Abrahim, his family, and the nation of Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Zamzam water is made available in the Grand Mosque of Makkah and the Prophet's Mosque in two forms: cooled, which is the usual offering, and uncooled, which is marked for distinction. Plastic cups are provided for drinking, and they are single-use cups. New cups are stacked on the right-hand side of each container and should be disposed of in the bin on the left-hand side.

The water containers are regularly refilled by the staff, and moving them from their place disrupts the refilling process. It is important to note that these containers are intended for drinking only. Using them for ablution or taking water outside the Haram not only wastes Zamzam water but also poses a risk of slipping and pollution to visitors and pilgrims.
