The Grand Mosque of Makkah holds a special virtue, as a single prayer within its walls is said to be equivalent to 100,000 prayers elsewhere. According to the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, "A prayer in the Sacred Mosque is better than a hundred thousand prayers elsewhere."
This virtue extends to all mosques and their associated units within the boundaries of the Haram in Makkah, and applies to both obligatory and supererogatory prayers.
During crowded times and seasons, such as the month of Ramadan, residents of Makkah have the opportunity to pray in any mosque within the boundaries of the Haram area, thereby earning the immense reward associated with praying in the Haram.
