The Arafah Mosque, where the Prophet delivered his final sermon during the farewell Hajj, stands in the Namirah area to the west of Arafah. Thousands of pilgrims gather at Namirah Mosque to perform the zuhr and asr prayers on the day of Arafah. The western part of the mosque is situated in Wadi ‘Arnah, a valley near Makkah Al-Mukarramah, where the Prophet prohibited pilgrims from standing as it is not part of Arafat, although it is very close. The mosque is also known by other names such as the Mosque of the Prophet Ibrahim, Arafah Mosque, and Arnah Mosque. The name Arafah Mosque originated from a village outside the Arafah area where the Prophet resided before moving to the valley to pray and deliver his sermon.

During the era of the Saudi State, the mosque underwent significant expansions, becoming the second largest mosque in Makkah after the Holy Mosque. It measures 340 meters in length from east to west and 240 meters in width from north to south, covering an area of over 110,000 square meters. Behind the mosque, there is an 8,000 square meter shaded area. The mosque can accommodate around 350 thousand worshippers and is equipped with six minarets and an outside broadcasting room for live satellite broadcasts of the sermon and prayers on the day of Arafat.
