The Grand Mosque of Makkah is encompassed by courtyards that have been strategically designed to facilitate the entry of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims, as well as worshippers, into the Mosque. These courtyards also serve as prayer areas, as they become filled with worshippers on Fridays and during the Hajj and Umrah seasons.
The management of the Haram courtyards involves several key tasks, including facilitating the entry of worshippers into the Grand Mosque, opening passages from the courtyards to the Mosque gates, providing assistance to drifters, the elderly, and the disabled, and enforcing bans on trading and begging in the courtyards.
Furthermore, the Haram courtyards offer a range of essential services, such as safe lockers for storing belongings, access to Zamzam water, mist fans to cool the air, toilets, ablution areas, and regular cleaning to maintain cleanliness and hygiene.
Visitors to the Haram courtyards are advised to avoid leaving their belongings unattended, as safe lockers are available for storage. Additionally, carrying weapons and sharp materials, riding bicycles or motorbikes, and smoking are strictly prohibited within the courtyards to ensure the safety and comfort of all visitors.
